Grass over 2,40 metres high at Prodana seeds

Investment in a new packaging line gave an improved working environment, higher productivity, and lower transport costs.

Prodana Seeds A/S develops, produces, and markets a wide range of grass seeds, turf, fertilisers, and bulbs as well as machinery and other products for the establishment, care, and maintenance of green areas.

Demand on capacity
50 units per minute on two packing places. The full cases weigh from 16 to 30 kg.

Solution (see layout)
Conveyor (1) with distribution to two turntables (2) and two packing stations (3) that, via ball table, use the same case sealer (5). Then belt conveyor (6) and accumulation conveyor (7) that lead to a manually operated pallet loader (8).

Advantages:

■    The pallet loader makes it possible to stack up to a height of 2,40 m. In terms of weight, this means 160 kg more per pallet at the same transport cost.

■    Greater capacity - higher productivity.

■    Ergonomically correct working positions and processes reduce the risk of back injury, arthritis, and occupational accidents.

■    The pallet loader can later be upgraded to fully automatic operation if required.

The cases are accumulated and picked from rotary tables.
