Estée Lauder starts refined distribution centre with automation from SOCO SYSTEM
From the outside, it is hard to see that a discreet greyish black building in Copenhagen is the centre for exclusive cosmetics from Estée Lauder. Nevertheless, this brand new building of 3500 m² is Estée Lauder’s new Nordic distribution centre. From here, desired brands like Aramis, Origins, Clinique, and Estée Lauder, etc. are distributed to Scandinavia, Iceland, The Faroe Islands, and Greenland.
Paperless, zone divided logistics, minimisation of waste, and improved working environment are the key words when Logistics Manager, Jan Ellebirke, is to describe the results of a turn-key project with SOCO SYSTEM.
Zone divided on screen picking – efficient, ergonomical,
and with high flexibility additional orders.
The ”nerve” in the logistics centre is a through-going, computer controlled conveyor system which is branched out to all picking zones – connects 2 levels through a lift (CON-Verti) and ends in the packaging area with accumulation conveyors, carton sealer, and 8 sorting conveyors. Special features are the infeed flexi conveyor for campaign goods and outfeed of empty cartons to a carton crusher.
After the lift, order pickings from the first floor and from
the ground floor are joined.

Jan Ellebirke is quite satisfied with the significantly increased picking efficiency which has been achieved without generating picking errors and Supervisor, Gitte Pajor, emphasises that the results have not been achieved at the expense of the pleasure of the job, on the contrary.
